Keeping House

I have been reading the chapter on "Clothing a Household". On page 100 I found a little gem of encouragement that I needed.
"Putting away things that get daily or weekly use is a way to exercise a kind of providential forsight. We will, in fact, need these things. Every morning, people need something to put on. Having clothes ready to wear in the drawer or in the closet is part of creating a expectation that in this home we care for one another. Our needs are not a personal emergency but are anticipated and provided for ahead of time as a matter of course".
AMEN! I really needed to hear this.
and on page 102:
"Clothing is so basic a reality that simply making sure everyone has something to wear can be a powerful way of making a home a nurturing and hospitable place, a place that helps us remember that we are all on pilgrimage together."
We are adjusting well to our new routines, and it feels so wonderful to not be using so much electricity. We are also handwashing all of our dishes now. The dishwasher has been working poorly for a long time. It requires me to basically prewash all of the dishes anyway, so I am now using the dishwasher only as a giant drying-rack.
Cutting back on our electricity usage in these ways really is fulfilling. We are trying to think of creative ways to simplify just about everything these days.
I pray that you are all having a blessed and productive week. We are enjoying a little bit of rain the past few days. A relief after a month with no rain. Our garden is so grateful.

Rocks In My Dryer

My clothes dryer has seen better days and I am sad to report it needs a costly repair. I am nearly positive that the repair man is going to tell us a new one would be cheaper. UGH!
Our dryer does get a mighty workout, so I am not surprised.
I would really like to know if there are any families out there that *do not* use a clothes dryer at all.
During the summer months I would say that I use my clothesline about 80% of the time. I am wondering how hard it would be to just line dry all of my clothes, even inside during the winter.
Any tips, suggestions, and equipment ideas would be so helpful.
We are having a lovely and much cooler day here. I am thinking of making a yummy *Pasta Lasagna* for dinner. It is a family favorite. I will post a recipe later.
I pray that you are all having a blessed and productive Tuesday. In God's Love,Tami

Camping Fun !
Isn't this just gorgeous. Washington State has some of the most beautiful land that God ever created. Just breathtaking.
I love all of the old homesteads. Red barns are my favorite.
Here is where we stayed. A place called Lake Pearrygin in a cute little city called Winthrop. It was such a beautiful and fun filled weekend. Aside from a little sunburn and mosquito bite epidemic, we had a perfect time. We hope to make this a yearly trip. It had been 10 years since the last time we stayed here.
All has been busy, busy around here. The weather has been just beautiful and we are soaking up every moment of it.
In response to a few requests for my biscuit recipe. I am still tinkering with it, and will post when I've got it just right. And yes, I did add whole wheat flour in a 1 to 4 ratio. But thank you for asking, and I will post the recipe soon.
Enjoy all of the wonderful joys of summer! Bless you all this week. In God's Love, Tami
