:twenty:

A few pictures of us over the years.
We look so young on our wedding day, and we were.
I was 21, and Eric was 25.

I am so glad that we went for it.

We knew each other 3 months when we became engaged.
We knew each other 8 months when we wed.
All we knew is that we were so in love, and nothing was going to change that.

And nothing has.

We have ridden each wave through this life of ours, and we are skilled now. We know that more waves will come. We will gladly ride the highs and lows accepting them, and growing even stronger for it.

Happy 20th Anniversary my love.
I am so glad that we have continued to choose each other over the years.
Always and Forever, Tami

summer's end

We are holding on just a little longer to summer. We have one week to go until school starts.
The weather has a little edge to it. I can feel the subtle change. We've seen no rain for weeks, I expect it will be upon us shortly.

Football season is on. Little boys and big boys alike.
Do you see that lad wearing a jersey in every.single.photo ? Yeah, it will be that way until the end of October. Our little town is awash in a sea of royal blue. Team spirit for sure.

Eric is back. Thank the Lord. Really.
I missed that man. I can get by without him, but not well. I admit it.
My computer is now happy again, thanks to the man of the house. He is good.

There are all sorts of back to school happenings this week. We are in sports mode already. Soccer and football practices have begun. We are at summer's end.

I am not sure that I am ready.
Everything is ready, but I am not.
A quiet house works for me for about a day. Then it is just too quiet.
I will adjust, just like I do every year. I will busy myself and be distracted until I get used to them being gone all day. I hate that anticipation, knowing that I will feel this way, and knowing that I will just have to deal with it.
Enough of that heavy talk.
I need to enjoy them thoroughly this week. And I will.

Have a blessed day, Tami

random junk

I am having internet problems this week. My personal IT guy (hubby) is in Hawaii. He is there slaving away on the family home for 10 days.
Poor guy. :~)
I am here, holding down the fort.
And...I still have no Photoshop, so no pics ready of the chicken garden. Sounds like I need a little blog break.
Our mission for the next 2 weeks until school starts.........beaches, parks, and lots of ice cream.
Tonight, we head up to the elementary school for a back-to-school fair. On Saturday, we have a family reunion a few hours away. What a busy week.
Have a wonderful week, and I will check in soon!
Blessings, Tami

face forward

My stitches are out and my incision is healed.
I will admit that I was totally unprepared for the size of the incision.
I was unprepared that I will have a line running down my face for a year (or more).
I was unprepared that I might always have a line running down my face.
It's not that the doctor didn't prepare me. I didn't ask.
I didn't really want to know. What difference would it have made?
I still needed to have the cancer removed.
It was better for me not to know.
My struggle is not really about the scar, it's about the change.
As each day passes I grow accustomed to the change, and it becomes more okay.
I accept a new normal.

Life is like that. Constantly changing.
This little change on the outside has changed me on the inside.
Giving up control and accepting life changes help me surrender more fully to the path God has planned for me. It all comes together for good.

Have a blessed day, Tami

:our week:

Wow, this has been a busy one.

We reconfigured the chicken garden.
It took all week. I am beat.

Redoing the chicken garden was a priority. We really needed to reclaim our back patio from the poo. It is now beautiful and clean, and ready for a party (and I am ready for a nap on our outdoor sofa).

I am proud to say that we spent a meager $15.00 to redo the chicken garden. We bought a wire panel for the fence and 3 post caps. All of the remaining materials and supplies were salvaged. I would really like to do a bit more planting in there, but for now they have a Rhody for shade and a little pear tree that will take awhile to mature.

I have a ton of photos to show and will do so as soon as Photoshop is back on my machine.
Oh yeah, we also had to reformat our computer this week........so no photo editing for me this week.

I have also been busy getting everything done for our big 20th anniversary party on Saturday.
We share this 20th anniversary year with my mom and step-dad, and my brother and his wife. We are having a triple-20 year party! Yay!

I will be back next week with photos of the gardens and the party.

Have a blessed Friday. Tami

books + baking

One of our very favorite storybooks is called The Seven Silly Eaters. I have a fondness for books that feature large families living happily amongst some measure of chaos. Makes me feel right at home. :~)

Rafe decided the other day that we should replicate the cake those picky Peters' made for their tired Mama. I searched for a recipe as a base, and we customized it from there.

Voila! The very special pink and plump and perfect cake. Not quite as plump as Rafe would have liked, but I assured him that in real life cakes are never *that* plump.....LOL.

I sure am enjoying these days with my kids. We have a month now before they are back in school. It will fly by for sure.

Have a truly blessed day! Tami
