One of My Favorites

Father, We Thank Thee ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

For the flowers that bloom about our feet,
Father, we thank Thee,
For the tender grass so fresh and sweet,
Father, we thank Thee,
For the song of bird and the hum of bee,
For all the things we hear or see,
Father in Heaven, we thank Thee.

For blue of stream and blue of sky,
Father, we thank Thee,
For pleasant shade of branches high,
Father, we thank Thee,
For fragrant air and cooling breeze,
For beauty of the blooming trees,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.

For this new morning with it's light,
Father, we thank Thee,
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father, we thank Thee,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.

I love this poem *so* very much.
With Thanksgiving approaching, I have been pondering and praying daily about how much God blesses us beyond what we may ever deserve, and how thankful I am every day for my life and for all the blessings in it.

Have as blessed and restful Sunday, Tami

  1. The candles remind me of my childhood. My mom used to have some like that on our coffee table. Ah, memories.

    Love the poem. Love thankfulness.

  2. Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for your blog - I came here via another recently and have visited again a few times since, so in the spirit of thankfulness, thank you! I especially love the music you've put to it, it's one of my favourite hymns. Best, Becca.
