My First Journal Entry

I have been thinking about what I might say in my first ever blog entry.
Should I tell a bit more about myself and my family?
Should I explain the reason for choosing "Joyful Noise" for a title?
So many choices........

I think that I will begin with a photo of my cherished family. This photo was taken at Easter time in our cozy home. My hubby and I have been married nearly 15 years and have been blessed with 3 boys and 1 girl. We live in a 98 year old cottage in the Pacific Northwest. I would say that we are "urban homesteaders", we strive to live simply and as self sufficiently as possible on our little plot of land the Lord has blessed us with.
I chose the name "Joyful Noise" for 2 reasons.
First, Psalms 100 is one of my favorite verses. It perfectly expresses how I feel about coming in to the presence of our Lord and I get overwhelmed with Him whenever I read it.
Secondly, this name fits the never ending sounds of my home and the "joyful noise" created by my young children as the explore, learn, and create with pure joy throughout their days.
I am so blessed to be able to witness my children's wonder and excitement as they discover this beautiful world the Lord has made.
Here is one of my favorite quotes by Eberhard Arnold:
"Only those who look with the eyes of children
can lose themselves in the object of their wonder".
Well, that's about all for now. As I learn to navigate this whole blogging thing I hope to have lots of photos to share.
Blessings, Tami

  5. Aack! We live in the Pacific NW, too! And I wholeheartedly love your description of "urban homesteading". We're trying to do that, too. To be good stewards of the home/land (er, YARD :)) God has given us.
And I can tell from your others posts that you are a kindred spirit because of the way you write of your home and simple things that bring you joy. ME, TOO!
A beautiful blog you have here. I'll be back!
